Berliinin underground-piirien lemmikkeihin kuuluva krautrock-trio Camera herätti ensimmäiseksi huomion spontaaneilla guerrilla-keikoillaan, jotka suuntautuivat erityisesti kaupungin S- ja U-Bahnin asemille. Live-energiallaan vakuuttanut yhtye takasi maineensa viimeistään elokuussa indie-yhtiö Bureau B:n kautta julkaistulla debyytillään Radiate, joka äänitettiin livenä studiossa parin kitaran, syntetisaattorin ja kuluneen rumpusetin voimin.

One of the bands to recently emerge in Berlin is a trio performing under the name Camera. Heavily influenced by Krautrock, the group have been roaming the streets for the past year, playing  guerilla-like shows to unsuspecting crowds at U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations all over the city.

The next surprise in store was how successfully Camera transferred their spontaneity to the studio. Never really sounding constructed or orchestrated, the tracks could just as easily have been recorded on the street – apart from the audio quality, of course. This is partially due to the fact that the album was recorded “live” in the studio.

Camera’s musical spectrum ranges from driving motorik rock to serene, epically flowing tracks by way of foreboding soundscape ridges. In other words: it can be right in your face or elsewhere in interstellar spheres, where time and space have no meaning; cosmic/kosmische music!
